How to solve Evo N1020v problem with wireless using pc card?
When I try to install the driver for a wireless card on an Evo N1020v
the laptop freezes. I have tried this with SMC and D-link. The
strange this is the USB wireless is working just fine! You will
be surprise to see how I end up solve the problem!
In the middle of installing of the driver the laptop freezes and the
only way to get out of it is to shut it down. It tried it with
WXP sp1a, sp2 but having the same problem.
Tried to upgrade the BIOS, ROMPaq, Winflash, all the latest drivers
that I can find from the wireless card but no luck and finally when I
install one of the update driver from HP site which I thought has
nothing to do with the wireless problem.
The name of the driver is "ATI U1/RS200M AGP Bus Driver for Windows
2000/XP". But long be hold the problem is fixed after I installed
this driver.
Base on the name it seems to related to ATI graphic card but
appearantly it fixes the wireless pc card problem.
Yahoo !! It works, i thought something was wrong with the bus card port ... now I´m using the wireless.

This worked great. I've had this problem for 2 years and the laptop would freeze with anything pcmcia G or better (b cards worked for some reason but you couldn't easily find them). Thanks for sharing!
