How to access to my own existing database from Mambo or Joomla?

Many people for one reason or another want to access their own database from within Mambo or Joomla whether that database is your custom design or from another CMS, forum, galleries, etc.  You can do that with the help of MosQ.

Here are some very simple steps to make that happen:

. First create a "Database Connector" in MosQ where you define database, server, login and password
. In the logic center where you create a logic you just select your database connector that you define above
. Then you just follow the steps to create the actual logic that you want to manipulate your database whether it is just a select, edit, search, etc

It is very simple to be able access your own database in MosQ!

I hope you will find this article useful.

Thanks

MosQ is a component which mean running as a stand alone app and plus it is a query and reporting application. You can use MosQ to help you bridge to query your custom database but to do validation you need a login module to accept login and validate against your custom database.

I need to validate my user login and passwords from a mysql db which is a part of a custom membership management system which I wrote for a non-profit group. I am V4.6.5 on the mambo site. Have about 1200 current user records in Mambo before we turned off the login menu 4 years ago. Need to ignore them and validate from the remote db, but leave all of the permission levels intact to be used.

Can I use this extension for that, if not do you have any other suggestions.

Thanks

Hi:

I found the problem :)
It was the user accessing my database. I changed from 'root' (:S I know) to other 'normal' user. All fine now!!
Thanks for your time, great component.

Now that I take a second look it has nothing to do with MosQ it has something to do with your pathway and frontend that missing record that cause the error.
